PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timofei Rasputin (ranked 2685 p4p, 281 weight class) and Artur Kasza (ranked 1529 p4p, 162 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timofei Rasputin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Artur Kasza!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasputin throws a big shot that misses.
Rasputin looks to land a left hand but Kasza moved out of range nicely.
Kasza shoots in looking for a takedown but Rasputin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kasza's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
An attempted straight right counter from Rasputin misses the target.
Kasza tries for a takedown but Rasputin circles away easily
and Rasputin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rasputin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nice body punch from Rasputin.
Kasza closes the distance and clinches up with Rasputin, looking for a takedown. Kasza pushes Rasputin against the cage but Rasputin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Timofei Rasputin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Artur Kasza.
Rasputin throws a looping overhand right but Kasza ducks down to avoid it.
And Kasza tries to counter it with a takedown but Rasputin pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Rasputin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Kasza throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rasputin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kasza is in Rasputin's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rasputin is looking to stand up but Kasza isn't so interested in that idea.
Kasza is working Rasputin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Rasputin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kasza trying to control the position from guard on top but Rasputin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rasputin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kasza on the ground.
Kasza lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Rasputin can't keep his opponent in guard - Kasza advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Rasputin is trying to stand up here but Kasza is controlling him well.

Kasza slips a nice elbow through Rasputin's hands, connecting with Rasputin's forehead.
Kasza winds up and cracks Rasputin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Rasputin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kasza scores with a couple of nice shots.
Rasputin has hold of Kasza's hands but Kasza slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rasputin has hold of Kasza's hands but Kasza slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Rasputin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kasza scores with a couple of nice shots.

Rasputin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kasza working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Kasza is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kasza has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Let's hope that Kasza has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kasza connects with a nice short shot to Rasputin's temple.
Rasputin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rasputin tries to get out of the position.
Kasza thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rasputin's head.
Rasputin is trying to stand up here but Kasza is controlling him well.
Rasputin is refusing to be controlled, as Kasza sits in half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rasputin wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Kasza looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kasza seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Oh Rasputin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kasza in particular looking to stall.
Rasputin seems to have got his legs back now.
Kasza scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Kasza is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Rasputin is hurt! He's hurt bad - Kasza fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Rasputin from any more punishment! Congratulations to Kasza! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Artur Kasza!
A relieved looking Artur Kasza thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
