Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Apollo (ranked 196 p4p, 28 weight class) and Rudy Rhod (ranked 425 p4p, 56 weight class). Rudy Rhod has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhod scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Apollo doesn't seem bothered though.
Rhod lands with a hook. Apollo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looks like DJ Apollo has been cut.
Rhod wants to land a leg kick but Apollo is out of range.
Apollo shoots in for a double leg but Rhod sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Rhod throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Apollo on the side of the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Apollo or perhaps it was just good defense by Rhod, which made it look bad.

Apollo cracks Rhod with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rhod cracks Apollo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Rhod connects with a leg kick. Apollo looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Rhod throws a front kick aimed at Apollo's knee but Apollo avoids it well.
Rhod leaves Apollo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

I would just about give that final round to Rudy Rhod.
I think Apollo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
