Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anibal Petersen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Wallace! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wallace throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Petersen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wallace is in Petersen's guard. Wallace stays in close to Petersen's body and controls the position. Wallace trying to control but Petersen is working from the bottom. Petersen has his foot on Wallace's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wallace works his way back into a safe position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petersen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wallace is one step ahead there. Wallace slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Petersen is avoiding damage well.
Wallace has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Wallace misses with a head kick.
Petersen tries to counter with a takedown but Wallace is quick to defend against it. Wallace misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Petersen gets in close and instigates a clinch. Petersen drags the fight down to the ground.
Wallace stands up from Petersen's guard - Wallace perhaps looking for a knockout. Wallace misses with a head kick.
David Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wallace feints and as Petersen raises his hands in defense, Wallace changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Petersen wants to improve his position but instead Wallace has moved into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wallace is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Petersen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wallace. Wallace trying to control from Petersen's half guard. Petersen has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Wallace wants to stand but Petersen is controlling his posture from full guard. Wallace won't allow Petersen to get back to his feet. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Petersen holds on and takes a little breather.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wallace trying to control but Petersen is working from the bottom. Wallace is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Petersen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wallace missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Petersen looking for a sweep. Not yet Petersen, not yet. Petersen wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Wallace is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Petersen is working an open guard so Wallace takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Wallace circles away from the clinch attempt and Wallace counters with a two punch combo. The fight stays on the outside here - Petersen looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wallace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wallace tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Petersen is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wallace's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Wallace dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Petersen clinches up against the cage. Wallace pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Petersen tries to clinch but Wallace is having none of it. Wallace changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Petersen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. You can see the frustration on Petersen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Petersen is not content to let Wallace control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petersen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Petersen is looking to reverse the position. Wallace decides to stand back up. Wallace steps back and let's Petersen get back to his feet. Wallace closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wallace lands in his opponent's guard. Wallace is looking to work some ground and pound but Petersen has wrist control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Petersen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Wallace controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Petersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wallace gets to his feet. Petersen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Wallace bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Wallace decides to stand back up. Wallace steps back and let's Petersen get back to his feet. Wallace with a nice cross. Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wallace paws at him with a jab and circles away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Petersen avoids the head kick by Wallace.
Petersen tries to counter with a takedown but Wallace is quick to defend against it. Wallace has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Wallace is breathing heavily. Petersen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wallace manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wallace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Wallace decides to take the fight back to the feet. Wallace pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wallace leaves Petersen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Petersen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Petersen misses with a takedown and Wallace counters with a two punch combo. Wallace closes the distance and pushes Petersen back into the cage. Petersen tries to pull guard but Wallace holds him up against the cage and eventually Petersen drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anibal Petersen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both guys are working to get underhooks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wallace breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wallace throws a sloppy head kick and Petersen moves out of range easily. Wallace bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Wallace wants to lay and pray for a moment but Petersen keeps working. You can see the frustration on Petersen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Petersen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Wallace asserts his dominance and retains side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Wallace showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Wallace lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Wallace closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Petersen to the mat! Petersen manages to get full guard. Wallace is looking to stand up but Petersen won't let him. Wallace stops Petersen from standing up. Wallace stands up from guard. Let's bang! Petersen darts in and clinches Wallace up against the cage. Petersen is trying to pull guard but Wallace turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wallace gets control of Petersen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wallace will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Wallace is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. David Wallace has got the better of the ground game so far. Petersen connects with a couple of short punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Petersen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Wallace looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Wallace takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The fighters are battling for position here. Petersen manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Petersen is adopting a defensive guard. Wallace is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wallace trying to control but Petersen is working from the bottom. Wallace wants to get up but he can't break Petersen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Wallace trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wallace postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wallace shoots in and bounces Petersen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Petersen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wallace doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wallace manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petersen wants to stand up but Wallace is controlling him. Petersen controls Wallace momentarily but Wallace frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Wallace trying to stand up but can't free himself from Petersen's guard. Wallace wants to control from the top but Petersen keeps moving. Wallace postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Wallace shoots in and bounces Petersen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Wallace postures up.
Anibal Petersen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! David Wallace is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wallace slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
