The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez has Ryan up against the cage in a clinch.
Velasquez lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Velasquez pulls guard successfully.
Velasquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Velasquez, not yet.
Ryan is looking to stand up but Velasquez won't let him.
Ryan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Ryan wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving.

Velasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ryan on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Velasquez kicks Ryan off and gets to his feet.
Ryan dives in and scores a takedown into Velasquez's guard.
Ryan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ryan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ryan stands up over Velasquez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Velasquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Velasquez is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ryan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Velasquez has him pressed against the cage.
Velasquez is trying to pull guard but Ryan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ryan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Velasquez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Ryan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ryan is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Velasquez frees his head nicely. Oh but Ryan has switched to an armbar! Velasquez is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
