Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Brown (ranked 2497 p4p, 280 weight class) and Jimmy Hopkins (ranked 2174 p4p, 256 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Hopkins! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hopkins misses the shot to the body. Brown appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Brown looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hopkins controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself. Brown engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Brown passes Hopkins's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hopkins is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Brown jumps into side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hopkins tries to improve position but can't. Brown trying to control the position but Hopkins is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Hopkins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hopkins keeps working. Brown remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Brown is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hopkins has escaped the position, nice work there. Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hopkins keeps working. A lull in the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brown is looking to take a break and control but Hopkins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Brown controlling from side mount. Hopkins is trying to get back to half guard. Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hopkins keeps working. Brown moves into full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown fails to advance to Hopkins's back. Brown avoids the attempt from Hopkins to control. Brown looking to control and managing it successfully. Brown wants to take Hopkins's back here but Hopkins is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hopkins bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Brown being controlled here, momentarily. Brown keeping moving, preventing Hopkins from controlling successfully. Brown definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Brown is on top in guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Brown works a leg free and moves into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hopkins throws an overhand right that lands on Brown's shoulder, as Brown tries to avoid the shot. Tyson Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice shot lands for Brown. No luck for Brown with that takedown attempt. Brown lands a jab to the head.
Hopkins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Hopkins jabbing away but nothing is landing. Brown throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hopkins was covering up waiting for the punch and Brown finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hopkins working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hopkins is staying active underneath Brown, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Brown is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hopkins is just riding it out for now. Brown eventually gives up the hold. Brown tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hopkins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Hopkins controlling the position well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown is looking for a kimura but Hopkins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Brown to get the leverage. Brown wants to pass the guard but Hopkins is defending well. Brown is thwarting Hopkins's attempts to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Hopkins scoring well with a low kick there.
Brown looks to land a combination. Hopkins sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Brown gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Brown lands a nice hook to Hopkins's body. Hopkins takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Brown fails with the takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown shoots in but Hopkins avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Brown checks a leg kick. Brown on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
It looks like Tyson Brown has been cut. Hopkins gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Brown. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hopkins fails in his attempt to clinch. Hopkins misses with a straight right. Hopkins drops his hands momentarily and Brown takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Hopkins throws a leg kick which misses Brown's front leg but catches the back leg as Brown tries to avoid it. Hopkins throws a jab but it's blocked by Brown. Hopkins scoring well with a low kick there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A bone on bone clash there as Brown blocks the leg kick.
Hopkins throws a leg kick but Brown checks it. A lazy left from Brown finds it's target. A telegraphed right hand from Brown misses the target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Brown dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Tyson Brown's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Brown fails with a takedown attempt. Hopkins throws a leg kick that is checked and Brown counters with a takedown into side control. Brown controlling the position. Brown is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hopkins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Brown thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Brown remains in side control and seems content to stay there. And that's the end of the fight! Tyson Brown showed his dominance in that final round. Well Brown has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
