Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Storm! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Johnson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Storm is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back! Storm wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy. Storm doesn't have the hooks in and Johnson manages to turn into his guard.

Storm wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it. Storm working a defensive guard but Johnson manages to pass into side control anyway.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Storm. Johnson throws a jab but it's blocked by Storm. Johnson keeps the fight on the outside. Johnson shoots in but no luck this time. Storm tries to clinch up. Storm wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Storm shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Corey Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Storm sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Storm shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson trying to control the position but Storm is working away. Johnson is breathing heavily. Storm pushes Johnson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Johnson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Storm is not content to let Johnson control the position. Johnson tries for a kimura but Storm is defending well. Storm tries to control but Johnson manages to take his back. Storm controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Storm wants to control his opponent's hands but Johnson gets his hands free. Good control from Johnson. Storm fending off the submission attempt from Johnson. Storm is trying to get back to his feet but Johnson has full control of the position and if anything, Storm has just worked his way into a worse spot. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Johnson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Storm is defending well though. Johnson let's go of the attempt for now. Johnson just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson not allowing Storm to control his hands. Storm defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Storm can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Johnson trying to control the position here. Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson. Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Storm keeps working. Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Storm knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Storm wants to control but Johnson postures up. Johnson stands up. Storm is breathing heavily. Storm closes the distance looking to clinch and Johnson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Storm! Johnson avoids the attempt from Storm to control.

Johnson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Johnson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Johnson with shots to the head and body - Storm looks very uncomfortable down there. Johnson looking for a guillotine from mount but Storm is having none of it. Johnson moves to back control. Storm tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. You can see the frustration on Storm's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Storm closes the distance looking to clinch and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Storm drags the fight down to the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Storm wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him. Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Storm, up you get! Storm throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnson. Storm keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Storm shoots and misses and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Storm keeps working. Johnson tries to pass to full mount but Storm defends it. Johnson lands strikes from half guard. Johnson uses his free foot to push down on Storm's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Storm.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson content just to control the position here. Storm tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control. Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Storm can do to turn this around? Johnson with a couple of short strikes. Johnson trying to control but Storm is having none of it. Johnson controlling from the full mount. Johnson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Storm is looking to escape. Storm is trying to stand. Johnson has hold of Storm's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Storm manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Johnson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Storm wants to control but Johnson is having none of it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Storm keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Johnson has control of Storm's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Storm regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Storm is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Johnson looking to finish Storm with some ground and pound. This is bad for Storm! Storm tries to control Johnson's body but Johnson pushes him off. Storm squirms to his side and now Johnson has his back! Johnson is looking for the choke from the back position but Storm is controlling his hands well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Storm looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Storm is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

And that's the end of the fight! Corey Johnson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
