Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Santana Blaze (ranked 2185 p4p, 112 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 5322 p4p, 263 weight class). Jose Aldo has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Santana Blaze's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Santana Blaze! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Aldo has closed the distance and engaged Blaze in a clinch.
Blaze manages to break the clinch.
Aldo has Blaze up against the cage in a clinch.
Blaze breaks from the clinch.
Aldo tries for a takedown but Blaze sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Aldo throws a leg kick that is checked and Blaze cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Blaze keeps the fight on the outside. A punch combination from Aldo misses. Aldo tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Blaze counters with a lovely shot to the body. Aldo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Blaze counters with a right hand to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Blaze counters with a stiff right hand. Blaze lands a nice leg kick that just misses Aldo's sensitive parts. Aldo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Blaze counter with a right hand. Santana Blaze has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo. Blaze misses with a wild body shot. Blaze keeps the fight on the outside. Aldo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blaze as he avoids it easily. Aldo misses the shot to the body. Aldo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Aldo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Blaze is trying to defend but Aldo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aldo is looking for a kimura here.
Blaze moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aldo stopping the sweep attempt from Blaze. Blaze is looking to stand up but Aldo isn't so interested in that idea. Blaze has a closed guard, preventing Aldo from standing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aldo stops Blaze from standing up. Blaze keeping moving, preventing Aldo from controlling successfully. Blaze is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Aldo presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Blaze breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aldo rushes Blaze and presses him up against the cage. Aldo manages to pull guard.
Blaze wants to stand but Aldo has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Blaze trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Blaze wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving. Blaze controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Blaze wants to get up but he can't break Aldo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Blaze wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Aldo's closed guard. He's half up but Aldo has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Aldo pivots and extends the arm, Blaze falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Aldo! Well done that man!
