The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buzpung closes the distance and clinches. Buzpung tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Buzpung breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Good leg kick by Buzpung there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Buzpung definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Buzpung looks to score with a jab to the body but Irvin is just out of range. Irvin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buzpung sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Irvin somewhat. Buzpung moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buzpung swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Irvin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Irvin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Irvin works his way into side control. Irvin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Irvin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Irvin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Irvin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Irvin has hold of Buzpung's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Buzpung seems comfortable defending it but Irvin has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Buzpung is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Buzpung is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Irvin couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Paul Irvin! Paul Irvin decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
