PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Publius Sestius (ranked 3513 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donall Doyle (ranked 22244 p4p, 0 weight class). Donall Doyle told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doyle throws a left and a right that both miss
and Sestius counters with a three punch combo that has Doyle backing up. Doyle nods at Sestius to acknowledge the strikes.
Donall Doyle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sestius cracks the inside of Doyle's front leg.
Sestius scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Sestius connects with a leg kick. Doyle looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Sestius cracks Doyle with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Sestius feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Doyle's calf.
Sestius lunges at Doyle with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Doyle's hand.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Doyle misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Doyle crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sestius - the referee stops the clock and Doyle gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sestius. Doyle manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Sestius lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Sestius lands a big head kick that sends Doyle tumbling to the mat! Sestius takes a step backwards and waves Doyle back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Doyle walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sestius checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Sestius has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Doyle seems to have recovered his senses.
Sestius throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Doyle has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sestius.

Doyle takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

That kick from Sestius tenderised Doyle's leg. Doyle is trying to keep his angry face on.
Doyle walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Doyle moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sestius jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sestius, right into the meat.
Sestius lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Sestius lets loose with a powerful body kick. Doyle will feel that in the morning.

Sestius dips to his left and cracks Doyle with an uppercut!
Doyle takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Sestius lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Doyle or not.
A left hand lands to the body for Sestius.
Sestius lands an elbow that stopped Doyle in his tracks for a moment.

Sestius's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Doyle's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Sestius catches Doyle with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sestius lands with a kick to the ribs.
Sestius throws a quick head kick that knocks Doyle silly! This fight is all over! What a finish! Sestius is up on the cage, taking in the applause from the crowd.
