Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason ReConnor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jordan Gatt! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! ReConnor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gatt. Gatt shoots in for a double leg but ReConnor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gatt fails in his attempt to clinch. ReConnor appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Gatt fails with the takedown. Jason ReConnor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Gatt. ReConnor tries to keep at a distance but Gatt has taken the fight into the clinch. ReConnor jumps guard but Gatt stands there with ReConnor around his waist. ReConnor gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
ReConnor jumps guard but Gatt turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. ReConnor tries to pull guard but Gatt forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Gatt tightens his grip and picks ReConnor up, before dumping him to the ground. ReConnor manages to land in guard. Gatt chips away with some ground and pound. ReConnor working for a triangle but Gatt defends it easily.
ReConnor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gatt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but ReConnor is tightening it up a little... Gatt has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Gatt reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Gatt taps out! Nice BJJ there by ReConnor!
