Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wayne Franklin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Lanley! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franklin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Lanley wants to get back to his feet but Franklin passes into half guard.
Lanley wants to improve his position but Franklin is controlling well.
Franklin is keen to just control but Lanley is a slippery customer. Franklin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Franklin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lanley defending well though. Franklin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Franklin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Franklin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Lanley has hold of Franklin's hands but Franklin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Franklin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Franklin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Franklin working over Lanley with some ground and pound. Lanley looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. That's one minute gone in the round. Lanley tries to roll over but Franklin keeps him under control. Franklin trying to control from half guard but Lanley is working away. Franklin looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Lanley taking some punishment here, with Franklin in his half guard. Lanley is pressing down on Franklin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Franklin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Franklin looking to sit in guard and control but Lanley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Franklin has his feet on Lanley's thighs here. He's pushed Lanley off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Lanley screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wayne Franklin! A less than humble Wayne Franklin misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
