Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Barnett (ranked 2142 p4p, 266 weight class) and Moe Lester (ranked 2822 p4p, 334 weight class). Barnett's entrance music is Move. A fine choice. Moe Lester told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buddy Barnett! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Moe Lester! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnett throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lester tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Barnett is in Lester's guard. Barnett with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Lester has momentary wrist control but Barnett slips an elbow through the middle. Barnett throwing strikes from guard but Lester blocks nicely. Lester not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lester really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barnett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Barnett content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Barnett has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Barnett is stalling in the full guard. Barnett postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barnett is keen to just control but Lester is a slippery customer. Barnett landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Barnett takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Barnett working the head and body with strikes. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lester's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lester's jab looks to have found its range, popping Barnett under the eye. Barnett fails with a takedown attempt. Lester is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Barnett circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lester gets caught flat footed, as Barnett shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Barnett scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lester utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Lester looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Barnett showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Barnett wants to control from the top but Lester keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lester is sitting in close to Barnett's body. Barnett has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lester is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lester is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Barnett.
