Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Silas Monk (ranked 53 p4p, 4 weight class) and Jean Paul Garcon (ranked 163 p4p, 13 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Silas Monk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jean Paul Garcon! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcon lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Monk has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Top Dawg in the buildup to the fight. Monk misses with a straight left. Garcon thows a leg kick but Monk checks it and Monk makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Garcon really felt that one! Garcon is looking to score with low kicks. Monk takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Garcon clinches with his opponent.

Monk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Garcon throws the kick towards the body but Monk avoids it. Monk throwing a counter right hand but Garcon manages to avoid it. Garcon misses with a head kick.
Monk thinks about countering with a head kick. Garcon connects with a body shot. Monk misses with an uppercut. Garcon tries a quick counter leg kick but Monk is wise to it. Monk blocks a head kick by Garcon.
The fight stays on the outside here - Garcon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. A low kick from Garcon is predictable there and Monk counters with a nice uppercut. Monk takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Garcon lands a jab to Monk's midsection. Monk turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Garcon jabs Monk right on the nose. Monk blinks but takes it well. Monk on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Garcon fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Monk is out of range. Monk tries to move into range but Garcon moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Silas Monk has been cut. Monk takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Garcon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Garcon steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Monk. That one must have hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Garcon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Monk's calf. Garcon tries to clinch but Monk moves out of range. Monk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Monk moves out of range of the strikes. Garcon connects with a body shot that sends Monk's belly button to the back. Garcon takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Garcon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monk. Garcon throws a lazy body kick and Monk counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Garcon connects with a leg kick. Monk looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Monk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Garcon was well out of range. Poor timing from Monk. Garcon gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A short right from Garcon on the inside. Monk misses with the head strike.
Garcon can't find room to land a body shot as Monk controls the action.
Monk blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Monk pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Garcon darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Monk waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Garcon. Monk takes a swing at Garcon's ribcage but misses. Garcon counters with a body kick. Good leg kick by Garcon there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Garcon throws a nice outside leg kick. Garcon lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Monk at a distance.
Garcon lands a leg kick that knocks Monk off balance momentarily. Good standup being displayed there by Garcon as he connects with a hook. Garcon misses with a looping right.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monk lands a big head kick that sends Garcon tumbling to the mat! Monk takes a step backwards and waves Garcon back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Jean Paul Garcon has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Garcon throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Monk tried to counter with a leg kick but Garcon avoided it. Garcon does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Monk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Monk misses with a hook
and Garcon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Garcon throws a leg kick which misses Monk's front leg but catches the back leg as Monk tries to avoid it. Monk throws a low kick but Garcon moves out of range easily. Garcon throws a leg kick and Garcon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Monk tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Garcon was well out of range. Poor timing from Monk. Monk feints and then cracks Garcon's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Garcon down. Monk wants to land a leg kick but Garcon is out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jean Paul Garcon dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Garcon dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Garcon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Monk swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Monk lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Garcon thows a leg kick but Monk checks it and Monk counters with an inside leg kick. Garcon lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Garcon throws a shot from downtown. Monk moves away and avoids it. Garcon is looking to land body kicks. Monk blocks the body kick.
Jean Paul Garcon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monk on the wrong end of a nice hook. Monk loads up on a big right hand but Garcon slips the punch. Monk is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. A looping hook to the body misses from Garcon. Monk does a little dance to reset his feet. Monk defending well as Garcon loads up on a big left hand. Jean Paul Garcon seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monk connects with a nice looking jab.

It looked like Monk wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Garcon tries a head kick but it misses.
Garcon misses with a low kick.
Garcon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Monk manages to avoid it. Garcon throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Monk counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Garcon off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Monk follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Garcon was out before he hit the floor.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Silas Monk! Silas Monk tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
