The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maellard just misses with a punch to the body.
Johnson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Maellard can pounce on him.
Johnson misses with a straight right.
Maellard wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've been told by Maellard's head coaches at Outer Heaven Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Maellard takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Johnson throws a jab but it's blocked by Maellard.

Johnson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Maellard's head.

Johnson lands a big right hand that sends Maellard crashing to the mat! Johnson stays standing though and waves Maellard back to his feet!

Johnson throws the kick towards the body but Maellard avoids it.

Johnson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Maellard lands a nice leg kick that just misses Johnson's sensitive parts.
Maellard fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Johnson checks it well.
Johnson looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Johnson lands a slapping body shot.
Johnson thuds his right hand into Maellard's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Maellard misses with a body shot
and Maellard takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Maellard connects with a leg kick. Johnson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Oh Maellard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson throws the left hand but Maellard avoids the punch easily.

Maellard seems to have got his legs back now.
Johnson sends Maellard crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Johnson is motioning to the referee to let Maellard up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Johnson darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Maellard's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Johnson before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Our winner, DeShawn Johnson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
