PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Bogard (ranked 1589 p4p, 236 weight class) and Braven Harris (ranked 1935 p4p, 288 weight class). Harris has chosen Dancing Queen as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Terry Bogard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Braven Harris!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Bogard counters with a nice leg kick.
Bogard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Harris's corner calls for a 1-2. Harris obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Bogard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bogard pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Harris feints the counter takedown.
Bogard drops his hands momentarily and Harris takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Harris looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Harris uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Harris tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bogard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Harris misses with a few strikes there.
Harris misses with a jab, cross combination.

Harris has managed to clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harris takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Bogard jabs Harris to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Harris takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bogard bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Harris's head.
Harris takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Bogard circles away from the clinch attempt.
And Bogard counters with a quick kick to the body but Harris blocks it.

Harris swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bogard wants to break free but Harris has control.
Harris throws a punch but it's blocked by Bogard.
Harris struggles to land a body shot inside as Bogard controls his hands.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Bogard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Harris has managed to clinch.
I was talking to Bogard's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Harris has a couple of punches blocked by Bogard.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Bogard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Braven Harris dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Bogard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Harris.
Bogard scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Harris tries to clinch up but Bogard circles away and keeps his distance.
It appears Bogard was looking to counter with a kick there.
Bogard lands with a kick to the temple. Harris shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Bogard slips a jab from Harris.
It looked like Bogard wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Harris lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bogard dodges the punch combination from Harris.
Good standup being displayed there by Bogard as he connects with a hook.
Harris lands an overhand right.
Bogard scores with a hook.
Harris paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Bogard throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Harris swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A left lands for Harris.

It looked like Bogard was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Bogard staying out of range there.
Bogard jabs Harris right on the nose. Harris blinks but takes it well.
Harris misses with an uppercut.
Bogard scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Bogard connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Harris gets a clinch.
Bogard lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Bogard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Harris might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

and Bogard counters with a nice uppercut.
Braven Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bogard lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Bogard walks into a jab.
Harris on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Bogard slips under a jab.
Terry Bogard is winning the standup battle so far.
Bogard feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Harris's calf.
Bogard misses the shot to the body.
Harris fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bogard manages to avoid it.
Bogard cracks Harris with an open hand slap.
Harris tries to clinch but fails miserably
enabling Bogard to counter with a crisp jab.
Harris throws a wild hook but Bogard just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Harris gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Bogard raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Terry Bogard!
An out of breath and clearly excited Terry Bogard thanked IniTech Nutrition for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
Braven Harris spoke after the fight, saying 'Get that fucking microphone out of my face!'.
