PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matteo Boretti (ranked 1397 p4p, 212 weight class) and Pope Drunkizkus (ranked 1407 p4p, 216 weight class). Boretti comes to the cage accompanied by Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pope Drunkizkus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Drunkizkus counters with a nice right hand that sends Boretti toppling to the canvas! Boretti scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Drunkizkus finish him?!
Oh Boretti is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Boretti lunges at Drunkizkus with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Drunkizkus's hand.

Drunkizkus might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Drunkizkus is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Boretti had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Boretti might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Drunkizkus is pawing at Boretti, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Boretti's nose. Boretti is badly hurt! Drunkizkus pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Boretti tries desperately to hold on but Drunkizkus is relentless in his assault! As Boretti receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Drunkizkus away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pope Drunkizkus!
Pope Drunkizkus seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
