PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Cline (ranked 24269 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Castillo (ranked 6364 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alvin Cline!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonathan Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Castillo.
Cline looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Castillo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cline to the mat! Cline manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Castillo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cline swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Castillo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Castillo wants to control from the top but Cline keeps moving.

Castillo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Castillo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cline swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cline trying to keep a closed guard but Castillo is proving a slippery customer.
Castillo is looking to pass into half guard but Cline pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cline is in guard.

Cline wanted to stand there but Castillo had control of the position.
Cline has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Castillo trying to keep a closed guard but Cline is proving a slippery customer.

Cline stands and steps away. Castillo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cline takes one on the button.
Castillo keeps the fight on the outside.

Cline moves into the clinch successfully.

Cline ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cline no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Castillo is looking to work some ground and pound but Cline has wrist control.
Cline wants to get back to his feet but Castillo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cline could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Cline looking for a guillotine here but Castillo defends easily.
Cline pulls Castillo in close to prevent any damage.

Cline looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Castillo stands up and waves to Cline to follow him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Castillo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cline kicks off Castillo and gets to his feet.
Castillo slaps away a takedown attempt from Cline, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Castillo gets a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Castillo turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Castillo manages to end up in side control.

Castillo stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jonathan Castillo will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Castillo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cline's half guard.
Cline tries to kick Castillo off in order to stand up. Castillo Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Castillo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cline manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Cline stands up and beckons Castillo to join him on the feet.
Castillo swats away the attempt to clinch by Cline.

and Cline counters with a three punch combo that has Castillo backing up. Castillo nods at Cline to acknowledge the strikes.

Castillo shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cline napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Cline throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Castillo working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Castillo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Cline bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Cline is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Castillo is defending well for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Castillo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cline was covering up waiting for the punch and Castillo finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cline wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Castillo manages to pass to side control.

Castillo tries to stand and escape but Cline actually recovers to full guard.
Cline is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cline seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Castillo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cline is just content to waste time from the top position. Castillo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Castillo has a closed guard, preventing Cline from standing up.

Cline drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Castillo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cline has Castillo in his guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jonathan Castillo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Castillo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
