Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ahmed Al Balawi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Takayuki Hamada!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamada tries to clinch there but Al Balawi circles away.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Hamada. Al Balawi shrugs it off though.
A head kick by Hamada misses

and Al Balawi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hamada won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hamada is looking for a sweep.

Al Balawi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hamada is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Al Balawi asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hamada is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Al Balawi has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hamada tries for a takedown but Al Balawi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Al Balawi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hamada.
Al Balawi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hamada.
Ahmed Al Balawi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takayuki Hamada.
Hamada is looking to clinch.
Hamada is trying hard to land a takedown here. Al Balawi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hamada tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Al Balawi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hamada fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Al Balawi attempts a counter takedown but Hamada avoids it well and moves away.
Hamada tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Al Balawi feints and as Hamada raises his hands in defense, Al Balawi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hamada is looking to stand back up but Al Balawi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hamada.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Al Balawi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hamada defends it well.

Hamada wants to control but Al Balawi is keeping busy.

Hamada avoids the head kick by Al Balawi.
Hamada shoots in for a takedown but Al Balawi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Al Balawi has a closed guard, preventing Hamada from standing up.

Hamada wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Al Balawi's closed guard. He's half up but Al Balawi has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Al Balawi pivots and extends the arm, Hamada falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Al Balawi! Well done that man!
