Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Steve Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jordon Shoemaker! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shoemaker blocks the body kick.
A swing and a miss from Shoemaker. Steve Jr is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shoemaker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Shoemaker throws a counter combo. Shoemaker misses with a wild body shot. Shoemaker misses the jab. Shoemaker digs a good hook to Steve Jr's body.
Jordon Shoemaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shoemaker swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Steve Jr fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shoemaker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Shoemaker throws a big shot that misses. Steve Jr moves out of range as Shoemaker strikes. Steve Jr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steve Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Steve Jr slips under a jab from Shoemaker. Steve Jr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shoemaker.

That's one minute gone in the round. Steve Jr fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Steve Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shoemaker gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Shoemaker gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shoemaker takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Shoemaker working the head and body with strikes. Steve Jr is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Shoemaker scores with a couple of nice shots. Steve Jr pushes Shoemaker off looking to stand but Shoemaker dives back in and keeps control.
Steve Jr on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Shoemaker landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Steve Jr trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Shoemaker lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shoemaker working the ground and pound effectively.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shoemaker scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Steve Jr?
Steve Jr wants to hold on but Shoemaker pushes him away. Shoemaker fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
It looks like Mark Steve Jr has been cut. Steve Jr is trying desperately to improve position. Steve Jr is breathing heavily. Shoemaker cracks Steve Jr with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Shoemaker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Shoemaker breaks from Steve Jr's wrist control and lands an elbow. Shoemaker raining down shots from the mount! Shoemaker punishing his opponent with strikes.
