Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anzhor Azhiev (ranked 7169 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Gael Roman (ranked 3173 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 86 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anzhor Azhiev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
36 - 32 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dante Gael Roman! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Azhiev's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Roman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Azhiev scrambles back to his feet. Roman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Azhiev to score an easy takedown into full guard. Roman manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Azhiev successfully pulls guard.
Azhiev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Azhiev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Roman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Roman postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Roman is in close to Azhiev's body, working some short punches and elbows. Roman wants to pass the guard but Azhiev is keeping the position. Roman sitting in guard here, content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like Roman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman pushes down on Azhiev's leg and manages to get into half guard. Azhiev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Roman pulls his head out easily. Roman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Roman stands up from half guard. Roman cracks Azhiev with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Roman moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Azhiev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Roman is looking to regain half guard here but Azhiev keeps moving and retains side control. Roman struggling a bit here. Roman sneaks back into half guard. Azhiev is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Roman!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roman wants to hold on but Azhiev pushes him away. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Roman manages to regain half guard. Good work. Azhiev seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Roman has recovered full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Azhiev has gone for a leg lock! Roman slips out almost immediately though and dives into Azhiev's guard. Roman controls from within his opponent's guard. Roman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Roman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Azhiev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roman is sitting in close to Azhiev's body. Azhiev has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Roman is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Roman is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Azhiev.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Anzhor Azhiev! A determined Anzhor Azhiev didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
