The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowen tries for a takedown but Viriato sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Viriato clinches with his opponent.
Bowen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Viriato smiles and moves away.
Viriato drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Viriato drops back looking for a leg! Bowen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bowen manages to kick Viriato off! Viriato jumps back into Bowen's guard.
Bowen keeping moving, preventing Viriato from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Viriato is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Viriato stands up and waves to Bowen to follow him.
Victor Viriato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Viriato throws a push kick but Bowen slaps the foot to one side.
Bowen really is a fat lump.
Bowen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Viriato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bowen somewhat.

Bowen goes for a double leg but Viriato avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Viriato continues to drive forward.

Viriato wants to control but Bowen is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Viriato has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bowen is on him like a limpet, forcing Viriato back against the cage.
Bowen swings wildly with an uppercut but Viriato uses good head movement to avoid it.
Viriato breaks the clinch.
Bowen clinches up with Viriato and pushes him back against the cage.
Bowen's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Bowen lands an elbow just above Viriato 's eye.
It looks like Victor Viriato has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Viriato pulls Bowen into guard.
Viriato is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Viriato is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bowen is not content to let Viriato control the position.
Viriato is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Bowen reverses the position - he's now on top in Viriato's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bowen is looking to stand up but Viriato won't let him.
Viriato is pulling down on Bowen's head to control his posture.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Viriato is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bowen is controlling him.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Viriato throws a leg kick but Bowen sees it coming and moves out of range.
Viriato has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bowen pulls guard successfully.
Viriato postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Viriato is looking to work some ground and pound but Bowen has wrist control.
Viriato stands up and waves to Bowen to follow him.
Viriato clinches up against the cage.

Viriato jumps guard but Bowen stands there with Viriato around his waist. Viriato gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bowen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Viriato moves into the clinch successfully.
Bowen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Viriato wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bowen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bowen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A low kick from Viriato is predictable there
and Bowen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bowen is fighting to break Viriato's control of his arms but Viriato is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Viriato has a closed guard, preventing Bowen from standing up.
Viriato is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Viriato manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Bowen lands a good knee to the midsection. Viriato won't want to take too many of those.
Viriato jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bowen walks away with a smile on his face. Viriato gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Viriato is breathing heavily.
Bowen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Viriato napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Viriato tries to hold on but Bowen postures up.

Bowen swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Viriato is now in Bowen's guard. A big mistake from Bowen there, giving up the dominant position!
Viriato with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bowen looking for a sweep. Not yet Bowen, not yet.
Bowen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Viriato stands up over Bowen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Viriato lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Viriato stops Bowen from standing up.
Viriato missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Viriato seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Viriato has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bowen is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Viriato stuffs the takedown attempt from Bowen. Bowen gets slowly back to his feet.
Viriato bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bowen misses with a takedown attempt - Viriato sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Viriato shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bowen is trying to defend but Viriato finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Viriato seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Bowen is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
