PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Ryan (ranked 378 p4p, 59 weight class) and Art Brock (ranked 1103 p4p, 173 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ryan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Animals - House of the Rising Sun. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Ryan.
Ryan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A chopping leg kick lands by Brock.
Ryan moves out of range of the body kick from Brock.
Ryan moves out of range of the body kick.
Brock throws a shot from downtown. Ryan moves away and avoids it.
Ryan misses with a series of wild punches.
A little jabbing left from Brock on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A solid leg kick lands there for Brock.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice body kick there by Ryan.
Brock shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Brock shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ryan eats them both and turns towards Brock to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Jimmy Ryan has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ryan moves away.
Brock doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Brock throws a head kick that misses.
Ryan throws a big counter combination but Brock scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

A little feinted left hand from Ryan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Brock takes a swing at Ryan's ribcage but misses.
Brock throws a leg kick that misses.

Brock takes the fight into the clinch.
Ryan lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Brock backwards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brock tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ryan's elbow.
Ryan is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Brock tries a knee to the head but Ryan blocks it.

Brock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Art Brock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Brock pushes Ryan up against the cage in a clinch.

Brock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ryan wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Some bone on bone action there as Ryan checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Ryan throws a low kick but it's checked well by Brock.
Brock throws out a loose jab but Ryan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Brock takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Ryan moves out of range of the body kick from Brock.

Brock misses with a wild body shot.
Brock tries to bum rush Ryan with a series of wild strikes but Ryan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Ryan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ryan turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Brock bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

and Ryan counters with a straight right hand.
Brock throws a body punch but Ryan moves out of range.
Ryan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Brock lands with a nice body kick.
Brock connects with a solid leg kick.
Ryan dodges the punch combination from Brock.

and Ryan counters with a nice body kick.
Ryan slips a straight right by Brock.
Ryan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ryan fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ryan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brock looks to throw the jab but Ryan is out of range.
Brock scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Ryan looks to land a combination but Brock avoids it well.
Brock has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Brock.
Brock throws out a loose jab but Ryan uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ryan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Brock throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Brock connects with a crisp jab.

Brock fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ryan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Oh Ryan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Brock closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Ryan! Brock dives in looking to finish! Ryan is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
