Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorginho Marcelo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hokuto Akira! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marcelo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Marcelo looking to pass the guard. Akira is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Marcelo pushes down on Akira's leg and manages to get into half guard. Marcelo tries to pass to full mount but Akira defends it. Akira is looking to improve his position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marcelo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Akira defends it well. Marcelo wants to pass the guard but Akira is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marcelo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marcelo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Akira stops Marcelo from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Akira tries to hold on but Marcelo postures up. Akira tries to reverse the position but Marcelo maintains control. Marcelo pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Marcelo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Akira to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Akira shrugs it off. Akira is looking to improve his position but Marcelo isn't that keen on the idea. Akira has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Marcelo is trying to take his opponent's back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Marcelo quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Marcelo but it's paid off an Akira is forced to tap! Nice work by Marcelo.
