Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hwai Ja! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Flibberti Gibbet! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gibbet lands a slapping body shot.
Gibbet lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Ja throws a poor cross that misses
letting Gibbet counter with a right hand. Gibbet throws out a loose jab but Ja uses good head movement to avoid it. Ja has been working on his boxing with his coaches at ELITE Island Gym - 19 Elite Coaches in the buildup to the fight. Ja fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gibbet manages to avoid it. Ja closes the distance and pushes Gibbet back into the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ja. Ja breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gibbet missing with a left hand there. Ja was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gibbet has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. A looping hook to the body misses from Ja. Gibbet does a little dance to reset his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice defenses there by Gibbet. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Gibbet. Ja shrugs it off though. Hwai Ja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gibbet misses with a wild body shot. Ja throws a body punch but Gibbet moves out of range. Gibbet ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ja moves away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ja swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Gibbet flicks out a counter leg kick but Ja steps away. Ja is looking to clinch. Ja takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Ja misses the jab. Ja scores with a hook. Gibbet fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ja. Ja tries to clinch up but Gibbet circles away and keeps his distance. Ja takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Gibbet connects with a single shot there. Gibbet throws a shot from downtown. Ja moves away and avoids it. Ja misses with a hook
enabling Gibbet to counter with a crisp jab. Ja throws a right hand that misses
and Ja takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ja is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gibbet throws an uppercut from hell that sends Ja clean off his feet! He's out cold! Gibbet stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
