Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bryon Davis (ranked 5938 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iman Rivera (ranked 24833 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Bryon Davis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bryon Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Iman Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera shoots for a takedown but Davis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rivera looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Davis keeps the fight on the outside.
Rivera misses with a combination
enabling Davis to counter with a crisp jab.

Davis scores with a takedown into Rivera's guard.
Rivera is wriggling around but Davis manages to pass to half guard.
Davis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rivera has hold of Davis's hands but Davis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Davis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Davis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Davis is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
It looks like Davis is going to stand back up.

Davis wants to work for an arm triangle but Rivera is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Davis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rivera's head.

Davis tries to stand and escape but Rivera is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Davis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rivera to the ground. Davis is now in Rivera's guard.

Rivera is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Davis's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Davis throws a big right hand that misses.
Davis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Davis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Davis lands in his opponent's guard.
Davis is in close to Rivera's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Davis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryon Davis dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Davis shoots in for a takedown but Rivera shows good takedown defense.

Davis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Davis wants to get back to striking at distance but Rivera won't allow it.

Davis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Davis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Rivera is breathing heavily.

Davis is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rivera is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bryon Davis!
