Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Scales! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Brown! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Scales tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Brown tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Scales can't escape the position.
Brown controlling from mount. Scales has given up his back.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Scales really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Scales has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Brown really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Scales. Brown looking to break Scales's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Scales remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Brown will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's one minute gone in the round. Scales preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Brown. Scales knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground. Scales trying to control the position but Brown manages to sink in the hooks. Scales staying busy and making it hard for Brown to control. Scales is trying to break free.
Scales is breathing heavily. I would not like to be Scales right now.
Brown patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Brown has good solid back control here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scales trying to control the hands but Brown won't let him. Scales staying busy and making it hard for Brown to control. Brown is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Scales has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Brown has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Scales taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Brown doesn't care though - he's delighted!
