Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Muh Kana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cornelius Burns! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kana pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Burns back to the cage. Kana follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Kana lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Kana throws a predictable looking body shot
and Burns counters with a straight right hand. Kana misses with a wild combination.
Kana closes the distance and clinches. A head punch blocked on the inside by Kana. Burns fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kana is trying to break the clinch but Burns has him pressed against the cage. A short uppercut from Burns. Burns lands an uppercut. Kana is looking to break free of the clinch but Burns has double underhooks. Burns swings away with an uppercut that misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Burns swings wildly with an uppercut but Kana uses good head movement to avoid it. Nice body punch from Burns. Burns working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Burns misses with a hook to the ribs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burns tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A hook to the body from Burns.
Burns lands a left hand that snaps the head of Kana backwards.
Kana is rocked! Burns misses with some punches.
Kana escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Burns looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Kana throws a left and a right that both miss
and Burns counters with a nice right hand that sends Kana toppling to the canvas! Kana scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Burns finish him?! Oh Kana is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've been told by Kana's head coaches at Russian Bears Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Kana throws a combination that misses and Burns counters with a big left hand that crumples Kana! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cornelius Burns! Cornelius Burns seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
