The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mirr shoots in for a takedown but Pfeifer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mirr misses with a double jab
and Pfeifer counters with a lovely straight right hand! Sloppy strikes from Pfeifer. Those never looked like landing. Mirr with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pfeifer to score with a decent uppercut. Mirr avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Frank Mirr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mirr misses with a body shot
and Pfeifer counters with a two punch combo. Pfeifer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mirr.
Mirr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pfeifer was well out of range. Poor timing from Mirr. Pfeifer unleashes a big counter combination but Mirr bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Pfeifer avoids the body shot from Mirr.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mirr ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Mirr misses with a body shot.
Pfeifer only half commits to the counter leg kick. Mirr misses with a body punch
and Pfeifer counters with a straight right hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mirr misses the shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mirr connects with a body shot that sends Pfeifer's belly button to the back. Mirr is looking to wear down Pfeifer with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Pfeifer ducks under a wild hook from Mirr. Pfeifer wants to clinch but Mirr slips to the side and Mirr counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Pfeifer! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Pfeifer wants to get back to his feet but Mirr drags him back down. Mirr scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Pfeifer to see if he's OK. Mirr controlling the position. Mirr is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Pfeifer looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mirr gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Pfeifer is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mirr lets go of the hold and Pfeifer can pop his arm back in it's socket.
