Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Son Pierre (ranked 2970 p4p, 305 weight class) and Sammy Smith (ranked 5592 p4p, 512 weight class). Smith has chosen You Belong with Me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with the takedown.
Pierre takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Pierre connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

It looks like Sammy Smith has been cut.
Smith uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pierre.
Smith takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Joe Son Pierre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith delivers a nice body kick.
Pierre throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Smith looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Pierre tries to counter with a takedown but Smith is quick to defend against it.
Smith has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Smith throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pierre.

This has been an exciting period of action!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pierre crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Smith - the referee stops the clock and Pierre gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Smith. Pierre manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Smith takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Smith pushes Pierre away with a front kick.

Smith closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Smith throws a series of punches but Pierre moves out of range.
Smith takes one on the button.
Pierre takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Pierre is breathing heavily.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pierre circles away quickly and effectively.
Pierre defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Pierre closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pierre lands in his opponent's guard.
Pierre has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Pierre's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pierre sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smith's guard.
Pierre looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Pierre seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smith for as long as he can get away with.

Pierre is nestled in close to Smith, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Pierre is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith is trying to escape back to his feet but Pierre uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Pierre works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Smith is rocked!
Pierre cracks Smith with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Pierre immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Smith is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Pierre!
