Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Salvador Pierce (ranked 25328 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Mcdowell (ranked 5920 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce takes one to the chin there.
Mcdowell lunges at Pierce with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pierce's hand.
Mcdowell's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pierce under the eye.
Pierce ducks right into an uppercut from Mcdowell.
Mcdowell scores with the left hand. Pierce knows he should have avoided that one.
Pierce fails with the takedown.
Mcdowell lands a head shot.
Mcdowell forces Pierce back against the cage and clinches.
Mcdowell has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Mcdowell lands with a left to the head.
Pierce tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pierce jumps guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mcdowell tries to stand but Pierce is controlling from the bottom.
Pierce is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mcdowell preventing the sweep.
Mcdowell would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pierce could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mcdowell wants to stand and escape but instead Pierce has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pierce postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Mcdowell is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Pierce dives into side control.
Mcdowell is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Pierce grinds an elbow into Mcdowell's temple.
Pierce throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Mcdowell wants to get back to his feet but Pierce is dominant here and he's now got Mcdowell's back!
Pierce is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mcdowell is defending well though. Pierce let's go of the attempt for now.
Pierce is persistently looking for the submission but Mcdowell is defending it well.
Mcdowell wants to get back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mcdowell avoids the strikes from Pierce.
Mcdowell is trying to get back to his feet but Pierce has full control of the position and if anything, Mcdowell has just worked his way into a worse spot.
