The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skrtic tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fernandes swivels and escapes.
Skrtic closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fernandes quickly recovers to half guard.
Fernandes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skrtic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fernandes tries to kick Skrtic off but Skrtic keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Skrtic seems to be working for a kimura but Fernandes defends the submission attempt.

Skrtic has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fernandes is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Skrtic yanks on the arm and Fernandes is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Skrtic.
