The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sanchez wants it to stay on the feet. Sanchez dives in for a single leg takedown but Rivera sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Rivera sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Rivera shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sanchez sprawls well. Sanchez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rivera gets slowly back to his feet. Rivera is breathing heavily. Rivera avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Iman Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Sanchez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rivera but Rivera pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rivera appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Sanchez dives in and scores a takedown into Rivera's guard. Rivera really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rivera wants to sweep but no luck. Rivera is trying to hold Sanchez in close to prevent damage but Sanchez has managed to pass into half guard.
Sanchez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Sanchez wants to take a breather but Rivera is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez is nestled in close to Rivera, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Rivera actively working from the bottom here. Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rivera keeps working. Sanchez works his way into side control. Sanchez is working to tighten his grip on Rivera's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Rivera has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Sanchez is really squeezing tight and eventually Rivera passes out! Sanchez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
