Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boris Boulder (ranked 1455 p4p, 181 weight class) and Cornelius Barnaby (ranked 1815 p4p, 218 weight class). Barnaby is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: There Will Be Blood. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boris Boulder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cornelius Barnaby! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnaby throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Barnaby lands a glancing blow to the side of Boulder's head. Barnaby misses with a hook. Boulder ducked under it nicely. Barnaby looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Barnaby misses with a low kick.
Boulder drops down looking for a counter takedown but Barnaby sprawls and moves away. Boulder scores with a takedown into Barnaby's guard. Boulder missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Boulder loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Boulder's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Boulder throwing strikes but missing. Boulder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boulder accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boulder trying to control the position from guard on top but Barnaby is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnaby pulls Boulder in close to prevent any damage. Boulder postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Boulder is looking to work some ground and pound but Barnaby has wrist control. Barnaby is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Boulder sitting in guard, not really doing much. Boulder with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Boulder in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Boulder postures up in Barnaby's guard and throws a big left but Barnaby blocks it. Barnaby pulls Boulder in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Barnaby throws a leg kick but Boulder moved away. Boulder cracks Barnaby with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Cornelius Barnaby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A momentary lapse in concentration from Barnaby enables Boulder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barnaby manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Boulder is standing up over Barnaby. Barnaby looks to escape but Boulder dives into side control.
Boulder tries to score with some ground and pound. Barnaby controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Boulder in side control, throwing shots but Barnaby defends.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boulder throws a strike aimed at the side of Barnaby's head but Barnaby avoids it well. Barnaby can't do much from the bottom here. An elbow from Boulder crashes against the mat.
Boulder is looking to take a break and control but Barnaby is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Barnaby is looking to reverse the position. Boulder trying to control the action but Barnaby is working from the bottom. Barnaby sneaks back into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Boulder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Boulder trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Boulder passes Barnaby's left leg - he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boris Boulder dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Barnaby misses the jab. A big left from Barnaby misses. Boulder changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Boulder is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Boulder is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Barnaby can do to turn this around? Barnaby comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Barnaby cracks Boulder with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Barnaby throws a nice looking combination but Boulder bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. No luck with that takedown attempt from Boulder. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boulder looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barnaby is fending him off so far but Boulder persists. Nope, Barnaby circles away and we're back to standing. Barnaby slips a straight right by Boulder.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnaby throws a head kick but Boulder moves out of range.
Barnaby avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Barnaby lands a jab-cross combination. A swing and a miss from Barnaby. Barnaby ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Boulder moves away. Barnaby staying out of range there. Boulder swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A telegraphed right hand from Barnaby misses the target. Boulder feinted with a counter takedown. Boulder throws a leg kick but Barnaby moved away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnaby misses with a hook. Barnaby checks the leg kick nicely there.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barnaby! But no joy. Boulder dives in and grabs Barnaby's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barnaby pushes down on Boulder's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boris Boulder. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barnaby throws a body punch but Boulder moves out of range. Boulder changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Boulder steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Barnaby. No joy there for Barnaby, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Boulder wants to control from the top but Barnaby keeps moving. Boulder has gone for a leg lock! Barnaby slips out almost immediately though and dives into Boulder's guard. Boulder keeping moving, preventing Barnaby from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cornelius Barnaby showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
A cross from Barnaby lands. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boulder is defended easily by Barnaby. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barnaby! But no joy. Barnaby moves forwards but Boulder connects with a nice, crisp jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boulder shoots in but Barnaby avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The fighters circling - Boulder throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Barnaby let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Barnaby moves in looking to clinch but Boulder pushes him off. Boulder shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barnaby as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boris Boulder. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boulder walks into a jab. Boulder closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barnaby did well to prevent Boulder getting side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boulder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Boulder is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barnaby defends it well. Barnaby has hold of Boulder's hands but Boulder slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Boulder lands with a punch from half guard. Barnaby blocking the ground and pound attempt from Boulder. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Barnaby is trying to stand up here but Boulder is controlling him well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boulder takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Boulder working over Barnaby with some ground and pound. Barnaby looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Boulder not landing any meaningful shots this time. Barnaby is looking to escape. Barnaby is trying to maintain the position but Boulder is very close to passing his half guard. Boulder controlling the action here. Boulder thows a huge punch but Barnaby dodges it nicely.

Boulder landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Boulder thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Barnaby's head. Barnaby keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Boulder looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Barnaby wants to get back to full guard.
