PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wale Ammond (ranked 1682 p4p, 202 weight class) and Jackson Villa (ranked 4419 p4p, 465 weight class). Ammond comes to the cage accompanied by Bad. Villa has chosen Jimmy Eat World - The Middle as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wale Ammond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackson Villa!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ammond looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Ammond thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ammond trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ammond wants to lay and pray for a moment but Villa keeps working.

Ammond goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Villa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ammond's guard! Nice work there by Villa!

Ammond working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Villa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Villa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ammond had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Villa defends it easily.

Ammond escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Villa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Villa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ammond has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Villa has managed to get both his arms back between Ammond's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ammond lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ammond is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Villa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ammond is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at DRAGON MMA - 12 Elite & 2 Double Elite Coaches, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Ammond looks up at the clock and then as Villa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ammond smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's time! Ammond's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Ammond takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ammond has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ammond wants to take Villa's back here but Villa is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
