Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Diaz (ranked 2438 p4p, 332 weight class) and Todd Rumper (ranked 4210 p4p, 536 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Todd Rumper!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Diaz stuns Rumper with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rumper scores with a nice right hand.
Nice sprawl there from Rumper as Diaz shoots in.

Rumper moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Diaz goes down! Can Rumper finish him!?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Diaz working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Rumper has passed into half guard!

Rumper is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rumper to get the leverage.

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rumper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Diaz is trying to control the position but Rumper postures up.
Rumper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
My spies in Melhor Lutador MMA inform me that Rumper has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rumper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rumper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rumper changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Diaz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Todd Rumper is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Diaz gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rumper.
Diaz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rumper defends well and Diaz ends up having to push Rumper into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Diaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rumper circles away.

Rumper misses with a jab, cross combination.

Rumper catches Diaz napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Diaz to the canvas!

Rumper has gone for a leg lock! Diaz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rumper's guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rumper blocks a head kick by Diaz.
Rumper ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Diaz moves away.
Rumper scores with a jab to the body.
Rumper slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Diaz throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Diaz defending well as Rumper loads up on a big left hand.
Rumper lands with a shot to the body.
Todd Rumper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rumper misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rumper lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diaz circles away quickly and effectively.
A quick step to the side and Diaz tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rumper sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.
It seemed like Rumper was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Nice body punch from Diaz.
Rumper thuds his right hand into Diaz's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Diaz moves away from the strike by Rumper.
It looked like Diaz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Rumper manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rumper looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Diaz goes for a double leg but Rumper avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rumper continues to drive forward.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rumper as he jumps to the side.
As Diaz backs off Rumper throws a huge counter combo but Diaz manages to avoid it all.
Rumper lands with a shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diaz throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rumper sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat.
Rumper unleashes a big counter combination but Diaz bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Ramon Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rumper misses with a body shot.
Diaz lands with a kick to the temple. Rumper shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Rumper cracks Diaz with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Diaz tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Rumper pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Diaz is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Todd Rumper!
