Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jason Tolevski (ranked 23045 p4p, 374 weight class) and Richard Gurd (ranked 23658 p4p, 352 weight class). Richard Gurd will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Tolevski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Richard Gurd! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Anthony Taglia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gurd lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Tolevski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gurd gets in close and instigates a clinch. A short body shot lands from Gurd as the two fighters clinch.
Gurd pushes Tolevski back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Jason Tolevski has been cut. A right hand to the body from Gurd.
Gurd tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Tolevski's elbow. Gurd misses with a hook to the ribs.
Tolevski breaks the clinch.
Tolevski shoots in and gets a takedown into Gurd's guard. Gurd being controlled here, momentarily. Gurd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gurd can't keep his opponent in guard - Tolevski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tolevski seems to be working for a kimura but Gurd defends the submission attempt. Tolevski is figuring out what he wants to do next. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tolevski is looking to take a break and control but Gurd is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gurd controlling the position well. Tolevski takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Gurd throws a combination. Tolevski tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Gurd gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gurd goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Gurd is working Tolevski over against the cage. Gurd pushes Tolevski back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. A left hand lands to the body for Gurd.
Gurd lands a body shot in the clinch.
Gurd stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Tolevski is trying to drag Gurd to the mat but Gurd just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Gurd scores with a shot to the side of Tolevski's head. Tolevski's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! A nice left hand lands by Gurd.
Tolevski has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A hook to the body from Gurd.
Tolevski tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Gurd lands with a left to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Gurd.
Gurd lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Tolevski is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gurd lands a shot to the body. Oh Tolevski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gurd lands a nice shot to the body. Gurd lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Tolevski is breathing heavily. Gurd gets through Tolevski's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Gurd digs a right hand into Tolevski's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Tolevski's gas tank. Gurd pushes Tolevski against the cage. Gurd is working some dirty boxing. Gurd pushes off with a quick right hook! Tolevski goes down! Tolevski tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Gurd moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Gurd!
