Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Cote (ranked 4055 p4p, 401 weight class) and Waleed Dheeb (ranked 3494 p4p, 359 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Waleed Dheeb!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cote drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Cote stopping the sweep attempt from Dheeb.
Dheeb is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Dheeb is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dheeb not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dheeb wants to control but Cote is keeping him busy.
Cote knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dheeb on the ground.
Dheeb drops an elbow to the side of Cote's head.
Dheeb wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cote keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dheeb has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dheeb is nestled in close to Cote, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Dheeb is looking for a kimura but Cote is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dheeb to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dheeb seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Dheeb seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cote does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cote on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cote tries to get out of the position.

Dheeb drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cote manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dheeb has Cote in his guard.

Cote is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dheeb is looking to stand up but Cote isn't so interested in that idea.

We've been informed that Dheeb has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Cote seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dheeb has his takedown stuffed

and Cote counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Cote goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dheeb prevents it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cote stuffs the takedown attempt from Dheeb. Dheeb gets slowly back to his feet.
Dheeb goes for a double leg but Cote avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cote continues to drive forward.
Cote slaps away a takedown attempt from Dheeb, before circling back to the center of the mat.
It looked like Cote wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Kevin Cote has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Waleed Dheeb.

and Cote decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dheeb's guard.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Dheeb shoots in for a double leg but Cote sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cote attempts a counter takedown but Dheeb avoids it well and moves away.
Cote throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dheeb fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cote is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Dheeb.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dheeb dives in and grabs Cote's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cote pushes down on Dheeb's head and hops out.
Cote displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dheeb.
Cote half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Cote shoots in for a takedown but Dheeb shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And Dheeb tries to counter it with a takedown but Cote pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cote throws a jab but it's blocked by Dheeb.
Dheeb drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cote defends it well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cote moves away from the strike by Dheeb.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kevin Cote showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Dheeb has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
