Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Riise! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alica Lich! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lich shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Lich preventing the sweep. Lich with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Lich showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lich scoring with some ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Riise trying to keep a closed guard but Lich is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lich throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Riise works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Lich stands up from Riise's guard - Lich perhaps looking for a knockout. Lich looks to land a body kick but Riise moved away. Lich throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Riise's waist but Riise gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lich off to one side. A head kick by Riise misses and Lich counters with a nice double leg into guard. Riise not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Lich engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Lich got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riise has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lich has managed to get both his arms back between Riise's legs - danger averted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riise can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lich controls the pace. Lich postures up.
Lich engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Lich landing with the ground and pound. Riise looking to control.
Lich is working Riise over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Lich stopping the sweep attempt from Riise.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riise not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lich controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lich slips a straight right by Riise. A head kick by Riise misses and Lich counters with a shoot takedown. Riise fights it but they end up in guard. Riise wants to sweep but no luck. Lich looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lich's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riise is trying to keep Lich in close.
Riise is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Riise is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Riise tries to land a sweep but no joy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Riise being controlled here, momentarily.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Riise misses with a low kick. Riise throws a head kick but Lich moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alica Lich dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Lich pushes Riise up against the cage in a clinch. Lich gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Riise wants to control but Lich is keeping busy.
Lich controlling the action here. Lich is continuing to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lich wants to free his trapped foot but Riise is holding on for dear life with his legs. Lich controlling the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Riise throws a body kick that misses. Lich has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Riise. Lich has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Lich connects with a solid leg kick. Lich checks a low kick from Riise. Lich looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Riise! Lich working the body and head with strikes. Riise is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lich off and has taken his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lich tries to escape the position.
Lich tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Riise trying to control but he's not successful this time. Riise controlling from the full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Riise wants to control the action but instead Lich gets a body lock and reverses into Riise's guard! Nice work! Lich stands and steps away. Riise gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Lich looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Riise will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Riise tried to score with a low kick but Lich checks it. Lich is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Lich avoids the head kick by Riise.
Riise misses with a leg kick and Lich counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Riise! Riise is trying to get back to half guard. Lich landing a few strikes. Lich scores with punches from side control. Lich is chipping away with strikes.
Riise prevents Lich from improving position. Riise tries to buck Lich off but Lich is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riise takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Lich tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lich has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! You can see the frustration on Riise's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Lich controls the position. Riise can't do much from the bottom here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Riise manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lich's best efforts. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alica Lich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Riise swings away with a body shot that misses
and Lich counters by moving into the clinch. Lich effectively controlling the action here. Riise tries to land a knee to the head but Lich blocks with his arms.
Lich works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Riise trying to keep a closed guard but Lich is proving a slippery customer.
Riise looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Lich has picked Riise up and slammed him! Riise can't keep hold of the triangle and Lich manages to pass to side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lich just content to control the position. Riise tries to bench press Lich off him but Lich keeps the position. Riise prevents Lich from improving position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lich landing strikes. Lich controls the position from side control. Alica Lich has got the better of the ground game so far. Riise is looking to regain half guard here but Lich keeps moving and retains side control. Riise sneaks back into half guard. Riise looking for submissions off his back. Lich with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. John Riise has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lich is looking for a kimura here.
Lich controlling the action here. Lich is nestled in close to Riise, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riise has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lich is working away from the top position though. Lich looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Lich takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Riise is pressing down on Lich's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Riise looking to control.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lich fails with a takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Lich or perhaps it was just good defense by Riise, which made it look bad. Lich takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lich slips a straight right by Riise. A low kick from Riise misses and Lich counters with a nice double leg into guard. Riise looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lich is one step ahead there. Riise controls Lich momentarily but Lich frees himself. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lich controls from within his opponent's guard. Alica Lich is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Riise is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
And that's the end of the fight! Alica Lich comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Lich winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
