The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Right gets caught flat footed, as Nurmagomedov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Right has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Nurmagomedov has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Nurmagomedov tries for a takedown. No joy.
Nurmagomedov breaks the clinch.
Nurmagomedov dives in and scores a takedown into Right's guard.
Nurmagomedov passes Right's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nurmagomedov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Right wants to get back to his feet.
Right wants to stand back up but Nurmagomedov manages to pass into side control.
Nurmagomedov connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Right some visible discomfort.
Nurmagomedov has hold of Right's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Right tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Nurmagomedov cranks the arm and Right screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Right, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Khabib Nurmagomedov!
