Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Chavez (ranked 5335 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Rivas (ranked 7234 p4p, 567 weight class). Jesus Rivas will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Chavez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesus Rivas!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick by Rivas misses

and Chavez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rivas looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Chavez is looking for a kimura but Rivas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chavez to get the leverage.
Chavez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rivas is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Chavez scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chavez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rivas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Chavez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rivas is just riding it out for now. Chavez eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Rivas takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Chavez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rivas.

A looping hook to the body misses from Chavez. Rivas does a little dance to reset his feet.

Rivas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chavez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Chavez lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Chavez postures up and lands a big shot to Rivas's brow.

Chavez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chavez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Chavez slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chavez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rivas for as long as he can get away with.
Chavez lands a couple of decent looking shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Chavez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chavez lands in his opponent's guard.

Jesus Rivas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rivas tries to sprawl but Chavez drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Chavez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Chavez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rivas is breathing heavily.

Chavez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Rivas is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
