Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Lanley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cael Sanderson! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! An inside leg kick from Sanderson misses. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lanley is defended easily by Sanderson. Sanderson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lanley. Sanderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lanley paws at him with a jab and circles away. Lanley appears to be looking for a big counter. Lanley instigates a clinch. Sanderson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lanley to keep the fight standing. Lanley tries to pull guard but Sanderson holds him up against the cage and eventually Lanley drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Lanley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanderson trying to stall but Lanley improves his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lanley wants to take the fight to the mat but Sanderson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Lanley wants to break the clinch but can't.

Lanley has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sanderson after a bit of a struggle.

Sanderson postures up and lands a big shot to Lanley's brow. Sanderson content to stall in guard here. It looks like Sanderson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Sanderson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Sanderson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Sanderson advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanderson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lanley rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Sanderson's guard! Nice work there by Lanley! Sanderson controlling Lanley's posture. Sanderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lanley's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanderson wants to stand but Lanley is controlling his posture from full guard. Sanderson scoring with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanderson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Lanley being controlled for a moment. Lanley wants to control but Sanderson postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sanderson stands up and beckons Lanley to his feet. Lanley swinging wildly here.
Sanderson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sanderson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lanley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Sanderson moves into full mount! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanderson with good strikes from the mount here! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cael Sanderson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Lanley gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sanderson to score an easy takedown into full guard. Lanley looking to control.

Let's hope that Sanderson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanderson tries to stand but Lanley is controlling from the bottom. Sanderson sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lanley showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sanderson.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lanley looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Sanderson tries to clinch there but Lanley circles away.
Sanderson looking to score a takedown here. Lanley is defending well but Sanderson drives through and ends up in Lanley's guard. Sanderson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Lanley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sanderson is aware though and is defending well. Sanderson is fighting to break Lanley's control of his arms but Lanley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Sanderson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Sanderson stopping the sweep attempt from Lanley.

Sanderson controlling from the top position. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Lanley fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Sanderson throws a push kick but Lanley slaps the foot to one side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sanderson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lanley keeping full guard, as Sanderson tries to pass. Sanderson works over Lanley with some ground and pound from guard. Lanley working a defensive guard here.
Sanderson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Sanderson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sanderson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sanderson stands and throws Lanley's legs to the side, diving into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cael Sanderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Sanderson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sanderson is taking a breather. Lanley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Sanderson. Sanderson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lanley! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanderson in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Lanley reaches up to try and control the position but Sanderson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Lanley rolls and tries to escape and now Sanderson has his back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Lanley is trapped and Sanderson is scoring with shots to the head and body. Sanderson scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Sanderson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Sanderson is landing with strikes from the back. Sanderson gets his hands free as Lanley looks to control. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Sanderson.
Good control from Sanderson. Sanderson is continuing to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanderson throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Lanley!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Sanderson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lanley has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Sanderson controls the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanderson lands with a hammerfist to the side of Lanley's head. Sanderson biding his time, controlling Lanley. Sanderson is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Lanley defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Sanderson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanderson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Yet more stalling tactics from Sanderson. Sanderson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sanderson is punishing Lanley with strikes - can he finish him?! Sanderson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lanley has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Sanderson scores with punches and elbows. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanderson is landing with strikes. Lanley can't take much more of this.
And that's the end of the fight! Cael Sanderson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Sanderson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
