PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian Laperierre (ranked 5565 p4p, 252 weight class) and Juenju Huyenegn Jr (ranked 7359 p4p, 297 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ian Laperierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Juenju Huyenegn Jr!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huyenegn Jr scores with a punch to the head.
Huyenegn Jr looks to land a right hand but Laperierre moved out of range.
Huyenegn Jr checks a leg kick.
Huyenegn Jr tries a head kick but it misses.
Laperierre throws a leg kick but Huyenegn Jr moved away.
Laperierre misses with a hook. Huyenegn Jr ducked under it nicely.
Huyenegn Jr throws a hook to the side of Laperierre's head but Laperierre sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Laperierre misses with a low kick.

Laperierre moves into the clinch.
Laperierre stalling the fight.
Laperierre lands a left hand that snaps the head of Huyenegn Jr backwards.
Laperierre manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Laperierre digs a right hand underneath Huyenegn Jr's ribcage. Huyenegn Jr let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Laperierre definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Laperierre lands with a short punch from the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Laperierre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Laperierre jumps guard.
Laperierre has Huyenegn Jr pulled in close to control his posture.
Huyenegn Jr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Laperierre had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Huyenegn Jr defends it easily.
Huyenegn Jr trying to control the position from guard on top but Laperierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laperierre seems keen to control Huyenegn Jr's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Huyenegn Jr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Laperierre is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Huyenegn Jr has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Laperierre to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Huyenegn Jr is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Laperierre pulls down on the head and he's put Huyenegn Jr to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ian Laperierre!
In defeat, Juenju Huyenegn Jr stepped up to the mic, saying 'I need a bitch'.
