Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dog Catcher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Carter! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Catcher scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Carter is looking to improve his position.
Carter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter trying to hold on to Catcher's head to control him but Catcher postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carter blocking the ground and pound attempt from Catcher. Catcher throwing shots but Carter is blocking nicely. Carter is looking for a sweep. Catcher is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Carter is trying to control but Catcher manages to pass to mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Catcher landing shots from mount. Catcher landing strikes from the mount. Catcher lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Carter hang on? Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Catcher scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Carter?
Carter sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Nice strikes from Catcher there. Catcher scoring with strikes to the body and head. Carter trying to control here.

Catcher trying to pass the guard but Carter defending well. Catcher thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carter's head. Catcher throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Carter is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Catcher scores with a couple of nice shots.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Catcher checks the leg kick. Carter misses with a takedown and Catcher counters with a nice double leg into guard. Carter looks gassed! Catcher wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Catcher trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Catcher is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Carter has his foot on Catcher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Catcher works his way back into a safe position though. Carter had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Catcher is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Carter Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Catcher's back instead. Catcher holding both Carter 's hands and preventing any damage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Catcher trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dog Catcher dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Carter misses the shot to the body. Carter missing with a left hand there. Catcher was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Catcher decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Catcher is stalling here. Carter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Catcher seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Carter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Catcher tries to improve position but can't. Catcher is not content to let Carter control the position. Catcher can't do much from the bottom here. Carter trying to control the action but Catcher is working from the bottom. Catcher manages to get back to half guard. Carter is just content to waste time from the top position. Catcher takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Catcher controlling the position. Catcher throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Carter being controlled here momentarily. Carter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Catcher keeping full guard, as Carter tries to pass. Carter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Carter is breathing heavily. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Catcher is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Carter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Catcher thows a big elbow that misses. Dog Catcher overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Catcher trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Catcher slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Catcher working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Carter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Catcher's guard. Carter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Catcher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter trying to control but Catcher is working from the bottom. Catcher has his hands on Carter's head, controlling the position. Carter is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there. Catcher throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Catcher swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carter wants to control from the top but Catcher keeps moving.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Catcher throws a head kick that misses. Catcher misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Carter's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Carter duly obliges. Catcher shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Carter tries to hold on but Catcher pushes him away. Catcher postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Carter looks a forlorn figure.
Carter swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Catcher landing strikes from the mount and Carter is in trouble! Carter can't escape the position.

Catcher looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Carter is looking to control Catcher's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Carter avoid being mounted? Carter is refusing to be controlled, as Catcher sits in half guard. Catcher takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Carter manages to get to full guard.
Catcher with a flurry of punches that miss. Catcher trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Carter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Catcher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Catcher lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Catcher has picked Carter up and slammed him! Carter can't keep hold of the triangle and Catcher manages to pass to side control! Catcher is chipping away with strikes.
Catcher working the ground and pound. Carter tries to buck Catcher off but Catcher is having none of it. Catcher scoring with punches and elbows. Catcher landing strikes. Catcher in side control lands a decent elbow. Catcher lands a few punches from side control. Carter is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Catcher off and has taken his back! Catcher holding both Carter 's hands and preventing any damage. Catcher tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Carter looking to control but Catcher is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Carter prevents Catcher from getting the reversal. Catcher wants to hold on but Carter pushes him away. Catcher is desperately trying to improve his position but Carter has a good base and remains in mount. Catcher is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Carter off and has taken his back! Carter covering up well and avoiding damage. Catcher working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
And that's the end of the fight! Dog Catcher showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Catcher, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
