With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marc Sandal!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Telfer fails with the takedown

and Sandal counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Sandal pulls Telfer into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Telfer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Telfer is fighting to break Sandal's control of his arms but Sandal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sandal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Telfer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Sandal is trying to control Telfer's posture but Telfer avoids it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Telfer has hold of Sandal's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sandal tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Telfer cranks the arm and Sandal screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sandal, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
