Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trent Leonard (ranked 7536 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Soprano (ranked 5955 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trent Leonard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Soprano!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soprano closes the distance and clinches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Soprano.

Soprano jumps guard and drags Leonard to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Soprano pulls Leonard in to control the position.
Leonard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Soprano on the ground.

Leonard wants to control from the top but Soprano keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Soprano clinches up with Leonard and pushes him back against the cage.

Soprano breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Soprano gets a takedown into half guard.

Soprano tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Leonard is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Soprano seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Soprano prevents Leonard from improving his position.
Leonard is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Soprano scores with a couple of nice shots.

Soprano seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Soprano is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Leonard defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Soprano perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Soprano swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Leonard is looking to counter punch.

Leonard tries to keep at a distance but Soprano has taken the fight into the clinch.
Soprano looking to throw knees to the head but Leonard is blocking nicely.
Leonard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Soprano gets control of Leonard's arms and successfully pulls guard. Soprano will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Leonard drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Soprano dives on top into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Leonard shoots in and drives through. Soprano sprawls well.

Leonard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Leonard counters with a thumping low kick.

Soprano manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Leonard on his heels. He'll look to pass Leonard's guard now, I'm sure.
Soprano is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leonard has momentary wrist control but Soprano slips an elbow through the middle.

Soprano controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Soprano wants to get up but he can't break Leonard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Leonard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Soprano controls the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Leonard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Leonard controls Soprano momentarily but Soprano frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Soprano has taken the fight to the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Soprano gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Leonard regains guard.

Soprano is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Soprano wants to stand but Leonard is controlling his posture from full guard.
Leonard controls Soprano momentarily but Soprano frees himself.
Soprano is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Leonard has his hands on Soprano's head, controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Soprano forces his way into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Soprano tries to pass the half guard into mount. Leonard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Soprano lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Soprano is nestled in close to Leonard, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Soprano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Soprano fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Leonard to the ground. Soprano is now in Leonard's guard.
Leonard controls Soprano momentarily but Soprano frees himself.
Soprano has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Soprano's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Leonard is trying to keep Soprano in close.
Soprano tries to stand but Leonard is controlling from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Soprano drops back looking for a leg! Leonard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Leonard manages to kick Soprano off! Soprano jumps back into Leonard's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Soprano ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Soprano no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Soprano is controlling Leonard's posture.

Leonard drops back, looking for a kneebar! Soprano looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Soprano looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Soprano!

The referee asks Soprano politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Soprano prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Leonard wants to control but Soprano postures up.
Leonard is trying to escape the position but Soprano is controlling the position.
Leonard tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Soprano wants to stand but Leonard has his arm trapped.
Soprano works to advance to full mount. Leonard defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Soprano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Soprano is looking to work his way around to Leonard's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Tony Soprano has got the better of the ground game so far.

I've got Soprano winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
