Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amado Noel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mikhail Kalashnikov! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kalashnikov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Noel quickly recovers to half guard. Kalashnikov is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Kalashnikov is working for a kimura but Noel is defending it quite comfortably.
Noel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Noel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Noel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kalashnikov controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Kalashnikov is defending against the submission attempts here by Noel.
That's one minute gone in the round. Noel prevents Kalashnikov from improving his position. Noel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kalashnikov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Noel. Kalashnikov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kalashnikov wants to get back to full guard. Noel seems to be working for a kimura but Kalashnikov defends the submission attempt. Kalashnikov controlling the position for now. Noel tries to stand and escape but Kalashnikov is controlling the position. Kalashnikov is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kalashnikov is concentrating on defense, preventing Noel from advancing position. Noel is thwarting Kalashnikov's attempts to control the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalashnikov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kalashnikov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Noel's shoulder. That is not cool. Kalashnikov wants to control for a moment but Noel uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Noel is looking for a sweep. Kalashnikov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Noel is not content to let Kalashnikov control the position. Kalashnikov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Kalashnikov scores with a big shot! Noel's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Noel! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
