PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rafal Mazur (ranked 3338 p4p, 370 weight class) and Rae Fon (ranked 4162 p4p, 448 weight class). Mazur kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Nothing More - Here's to Heartache. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rafal Mazur! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rae Fon! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Mazur keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Fon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fon connects with a nice short shot to Mazur's temple. Fon looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Fon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Fon is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Mazur wants to improve his position but Fon is controlling well.
Fon not landing any meaningful shots this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mazur avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Fon. Fon is trying for a kimura here. Mazur looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Fon wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rae Fon! A less than humble Rae Fon misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
