Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Antony Duke (ranked 5882 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Miller (ranked 5914 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antony Duke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wayne Miller!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller clinches up with Duke and pushes him back against the cage.

Miller turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Miller manages to end up in side control.
Miller taking a break here but Duke is having none of it and regains half guard.
Duke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Duke gets back to full guard.
Duke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duke is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Miller trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Duke manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Miller can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Duke controls the pace.

Duke is controlling the pace.
Miller wants to improve his position but Duke is controlling well.
Duke with the ground and pound but Miller uses the opportunity to regain guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duke accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Miller is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Miller trying to keep a closed guard but Duke is proving a slippery customer.

Duke decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Miller darts in and clinches Duke up against the cage.
Miller has Duke pressed against the cage.
Duke is trying to break the clinch but Miller has him pressed against the cage.
Duke wants to break the clinch but can't.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Miller takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Miller turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Miller manages to end up in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duke gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Miller wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Duke uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Duke seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wayne Miller dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Miller tries to counter with a clinch but Duke shakes him off and moves away.

Miller has Duke pressed against the cage, preventing Duke from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Miller drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Duke dives on top into guard.

Duke controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Duke drops back, looking for a kneebar! Miller looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Miller looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Miller!

Duke controls the position for a moment.

Miller lands a decent elbow from side control.
An elbow from Miller crashes against the mat.
The strikes coming from Miller are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Miller wants to take a breather but Duke manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Miller.
Duke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Duke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Miller is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Miller stays in close to Duke's body and controls the position.
Duke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Duke drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Miller dives on top into guard.

Duke seems keen to control Miller's posture.

A close second round but Wayne Miller will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Miller fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Duke, pushing him back against the cage.
Duke misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Miller.

Miller manages to break the clinch.
Miller closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duke circles away.
Wayne Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Duke as Miller shoots in.
Duke throws a big counter combination but Miller scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Antony Duke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne Miller.
Miller closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duke circles away.

Crunch! Miller slams his shin into Duke's torso.
Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Duke shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Miller's guard.

Duke stands up from Miller's guard - Duke perhaps looking for a knockout.
Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Duke enables Miller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Duke manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Duke can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Miller controls the pace.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Duke holds on and takes a little breather.

Miller looking to sit in guard and control but Duke gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Duke stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Miller has Duke up against the cage in a clinch.

Duke is trying to push Miller away but Miller has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Miller is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Miller looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A short left from Miller.
Miller tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Duke is trying to break free.
Miller jumps guard but Duke stands there with Miller around his waist. Miller gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miller tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Duke just stands there and leans against the cage.
Duke wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Miller has him pressed against the cage.
Miller is stalling here.
Miller misses with some punches.
Duke keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Miller's efforts to push away.

Miller stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Antony Duke.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Wayne Miller was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
