Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo just misses with a punch to the body.

Butler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Araujo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Butler working the head and body with strikes.
Araujo is looking to reverse the position.
Butler landing a few strikes.
Butler looks up at the clock and then as Araujo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Butler smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Araujo is looking for a sweep.
We've been hearing good reports from Butler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Butler tries to advance to mount but Araujo denies him.
Butler lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Araujo tries to bench press Butler off him but Butler keeps the position.
Araujo wants to control but Butler postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butler scores with punches from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Butler working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Butler cracks Araujo with a big right hand but Araujo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.


Araujo is rocked!
Araujo is trying to improve his position.
Butler trying to control the action but Araujo is working from the bottom.

Araujo is looking for a sweep.
Araujo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Araujo tries to roll over but Butler keeps him under control.

Araujo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Araujo wants to improve his position but Butler is controlling well.
Butler looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Butler is looking to advance position but Araujo won't allow it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Butler lands a nice short elbow.
Butler has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Araujo tries to reverse the position but Butler maintains control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Butler.
Butler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Butler fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Araujo is still in real trouble! Can Butler finish him?
Butler postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Araujo bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Butler and the fight is over!
