Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khebabib Nurmagomegov (ranked 3113 p4p, 352 weight class) and Hokuto Akira (ranked 3495 p4p, 386 weight class). Akira comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Luis Miguel - Oro De Ley kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nurmagomegov shoots in but Akira avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Akira's corner calls for a 1-2. Akira obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That kick from Akira tenderised Nurmagomegov's leg. Nurmagomegov is trying to keep his angry face on.
A nice leg kick lands there from Akira.
Nurmagomegov takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nurmagomegov misses with a double jab.
Akira connects with a right hand. Nurmagomegov shakes it off.
Nurmagomegov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nurmagomegov tries to move into range but Akira moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Akira throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nurmagomegov on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Akira fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Nurmagomegov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

We've been hearing reports that Nurmagomegov has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Akira is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Nurmagomegov presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Akira wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Nurmagomegov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Akira is adopting a defensive guard.
Akira manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nurmagomegov manages to get himself to full guard.

Akira not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Let's hope that Akira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nurmagomegov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Akira is one step ahead there.
Akira told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Nurmagomegov controls Akira momentarily but Akira frees himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nurmagomegov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Akira is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nurmagomegov fails to land with a series of punches.
Akira lands with a thumping leg kick.

Nurmagomegov closes the distance and pushes Akira back into the cage.

Akira has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Akira scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Nurmagomegov is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Akira counters with a big left hand that crumples Nurmagomegov! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!

A relieved looking Hokuto Akira thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
